At the crack of dawn, a flock of twittering sparrows outside my bedroom window cried out in their birdy language, “Get up, get up, get out of bed!” The incessant noise ratcheted my eyelids open, triggering a yawn to touch off a stretch, which sparked remembrance of today’s intention and sent a ball of energy rolling through my body like a Rube Goldberg Contraption. Today is the day for Trunk-o-Treat at the church. I can hardly wait to entertain the children with our race car-themed decorations, including checkered flag banners and my husband’s real race car! Happy Halloween! The kids are going to love it.
